How to rejoin after a crash
The app crashed, your phone ran out of battery, or you accidentally closed it. Here’s what happens and what to do.
The good news
Section titled “The good news”Your progress is saved. The app saves your session state to disk continuously. When you reopen the app:
- It detects the saved session
- It reconnects to the server
- It picks up where you left off — same event, same team, same progress
You do not need to re-enter your locator code or re-download the event.
What to do
Section titled “What to do”- Reopen the app
- Wait for it to reconnect (this may take a few seconds)
- You’re back on the map with all your progress intact
If a challenge was in progress when the app closed, it may have timed out. Check your ranking to see if it was scored.
If it asks you to log in again
Section titled “If it asks you to log in again”This is rare, but if the app can’t recover the saved session:
- Enter your locator code again (or scan QR / tap deep link)
- The server recognizes your device and reassigns you to your team
- All your previous results are preserved — they’re stored on the server, not on your phone
If another device took your code
Section titled “If another device took your code”If someone logged in with your locator code on a different device while your app was closed, you’ll get a device conflict error when you try to reconnect.
Ask the organizer to unassign the other device from MooveTeam CMS (Teams tab > Unassign device).
