Gadget collection and use

Gadgets are power-ups that let you disrupt rival teams. This flow covers the full journey: how you get them, how you send them, and what they do.

There are three ways to get gadgets during an event:

Some challenges are configured to award a gadget when you complete them. After you finish the challenge, the gadget appears in your inventory automatically.

You don’t get to choose which gadget — the organizer decides what reward each challenge gives.

The organizer can set a GPS distance threshold. Walk that distance during the event and you earn a gadget. The app tracks your movement in the background.

In some events, 3D gadget models are placed in AR space. Point your camera at the right area to find them, then tap to pick them up. You have 60 seconds to collect each one before it disappears.

  1. Open the Gadgets tab from the navigation bar
  2. You’ll see your available gadgets with icons and quantities
  3. Tap the gadget you want to use
  4. A list of all teams in the event appears — tap the team you want to target
  5. Confirm the send

The effect appears on the target team’s screens immediately. Your quantity for that gadget decreases by one.

GadgetEffect on target team
BombFire explosion covers their screen
Drunk ScreenThe screen goes blurry and distorted
X-RayDefensive gadget — shows you the positions of all rival teams on the map
Scaring GhostSudden startling visual and sound
FartSound effect and visual particles
LoveHearts rain across their screen
FireworksFireworks burst on screen
Broken ScreenTheir screen appears cracked
Inverted ScreenTheir entire screen flips upside down
Lock ScreenTheir screen is frozen — they can’t interact

Most effects are visual distractions that last a few seconds. Lock Screen is the most disruptive — it prevents the target from using their phone entirely while active.

X-Ray is unique: instead of hurting a rival, it gives your team intelligence by revealing rival positions on the map.

  • Send Lock Screen during a timed challenge. The target team can’t interact with their screen, eating into their timer.
  • Use Bomb or Scaring Ghost for distraction. Loud effects and sudden visuals break concentration during puzzles or questions.
  • Save X-Ray for the endgame. Knowing where rivals are is most valuable when the race is tight.
  • Don’t waste gadgets early. They have limited stock. Use them when the stakes are highest.
  • Coordinate with your team. If two of you have gadgets, hit the leading team simultaneously for maximum disruption.

Not everything in your inventory is a gadget. Organizers can also place collectible items — objects you gather by completing challenges or finding them on the map. These don’t attack anyone. Instead, some challenges require specific items to activate.

If a challenge won’t activate and says you’re missing an item, check your inventory. You need to find and collect that item first before the challenge opens.
